Before you both install

  • Pick a habit you'll both keep

In r/Marriage, one commenter said a daily quiz felt like homework after a long workday, while another couple has answered Paired's daily question for two years. A one-minute ritual is easier to keep than a long one.

  • Both of you have to open it

Another r/Marriage commenter said no app worked for them because only one partner used it without being reminded. Agree on when you'll open it before you both install.

  • Check what's free and who pays

In r/dating, someone asking for a free app said most look free until you try to do anything. In r/LongDistance, the first question about a new app was whether each partner pays. Paired, Lasting, Between and Phorb say one plan covers you both.

Couples app questions

What is the best app for couples?

Phorb is the one app here built for all five needs: daily questions, sharing feelings and needs, plans and games, with one subscription for both of you. If you only want one thing, Paired and Agapé focus on conversation, Lasting on guided sessions, Between on private chat and Cupla, Cozi or Honeydue on planning and money.

Is there a free couples app?

Phorb's core features and all 17 of its widgets are free. Gottman Card Decks and Honeydue are free, and Cozi and Between are free with optional paid plans. Paired, Agapé, Couple Joy, Candle, Cupla and Lasting are free to download, with more behind a subscription.

Do both partners need to pay?

Not for Paired, Lasting, Between or Phorb: each says one paid plan covers the partner, and Cozi shares one family account. Agapé, Couple Joy, Candle and Cupla don't say on their listings or sites, so check inside the app before either of you pays.

Is there a couples app in my language?

Phorb runs in 10 languages: English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese and Romanian. Each partner sees it in their own phone's language, so a couple who speak different languages can both use it comfortably.

Can a couples app replace therapy?

No. These are self-help apps, and Lasting's own listing says it isn't medical or psychological advice. If the same fight keeps coming back, or either of you feels unsafe, see a couples therapist.

How were these apps chosen?

We started with the apps named most often in the top-ranking “best couples apps” articles, led by Paired, Between and Lasting, then added apps so every need has a strong option. We left out apps whose App Store listing hasn't changed since 2024, and Coral, whose listing centers on intimacy rather than the five needs here.
