Before you both install
Choose a signal you will keep using
In a Reddit r/apps discussion, one person said apps that felt too cute, gamified or demanding had not stuck for them. A photo, mood or counter can be enough.
Make the next visit visible
In a Reddit r/LongDistance discussion, a self-described couples therapist suggested a shared countdown as a small ritual. A commenter who spent months between visits said basic countdown widgets helped.
Check what sits behind the widget
Widgetable's official listing says Distance requests location and Sleep requests sleep data. Couple Joy also offers distance tracking. Choose photos or a countdown if you do not want those permissions.
Couple widget app questions
Is there a free couple widget app?
Yes. All 17 Phorb widgets are free for both partners, and Locket says photo sharing is free. Widgetable, Couple Joy and Paired are free to download with optional paid plans.
Do both partners need to pay?
Not at Paired or Phorb: both companies say one Premium subscription covers the paired partner. The sources checked for Locket, Widgetable and Couple Joy do not answer this, so check the offer inside the app before either of you pays.
Can a couple use widgets across iPhone and Android?
Locket, Widgetable, Couple Joy and Paired have listings in both app stores. Phorb is on iPhone today, and Android users can join the waitlist on phorb.app. Two store listings do not prove that every widget works the same on both platforms.
How do I add a couple widget on iPhone?
Both partners install the same app and connect their accounts. Apple says to touch and hold the Home Screen, choose Edit and Add Widget; on the Lock Screen, touch and hold it, choose Customize and Add Widgets, then select the app.
Is there a couple widget app in my language?
Phorb runs in 10 languages: English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese and Romanian. Each partner sees it in their own phone's language, so a couple who speak different languages can both use it comfortably.
